‘Women and the Synod’ webinar with the National Board of Catholic Women
The co-founder of the School for Synodality was invited by the National Board of Catholic Women to explore 'Women & The Synod' on the 26th March 2025.
Hosted by the Women in the Church Committee, Avril Baigent took attendees through Paragraph 60 of the Final Synod Document, addressing crucial topics related to women in the Church. She reflected on her experiences, how it related to her own experiences as a womans at the synod as a facilitator, and how other countries have reflected on it so far.
Avril also looked at the work of the Synod's Working Group 5 (officially called 'Some Theological and Canonical Matters Regarding Specific Ministerial Forms'), which explored the role of women and the diaconate.
The National Board of Catholic Women brings together women from many different backgrounds, working nationally and internationally and ecumenically to challenge discrimination and promote the right of women to gender justice, and actively promote the presence, participation and responsibilities of Catholic women in the Church and society.
