Formation and Training with School for Synodality - new dates
Our Formation and Training Offer Has Grown
For several years, our Synodality 101 course has helped hundreds of people explore synodality and build the skills, dispositions and practices needed to make it a lived reality in the Church. Off the back of participant enthusiasm and feedback, we've expanded this into a wider pathway of formation, with courses designed to accompany people at different stages of their synodal journey — and this programme will keep growing as needs emerge.
Here's what's new:
Synodality 101 has evolved into two distinct courses:
Introduction to Synodality (2 sessions, 2 hours each, over 2 weeks) — for those relatively new to synodality, with no prior knowledge assumed. A great entry point, whether you're just starting out or already experienced and looking to connect with others exploring the topic.
Facilitating Conversations in the Spirit (formerly Synodality 101) (4 sessions, 2 hours each, weekly with a gap before the final session) — for those with some existing experience who want to develop the practical skills to facilitate Conversations in the Spirit. This experiential, learning-by-doing course covers foundational principles, the facilitator's role, hands-on practice, and applying learning in real contexts.
And for those ready to go further:
Forming Others to Facilitate Conversations in the Spirit (2 sessions, 2 hours each, over 2 weeks) — for those who have completed the Facilitating Conversations in the Spirit course (or equivalent experience) who want to train and support others, particularly suited to those in diocesan, parish, deanery or religious community leadership roles.
Synodality Lab — a bi-monthly reflective practice space open to anyone who has completed Synodality 101 / Facilitating Conversations in the Spirit (or has equivalent experience), offering ongoing peer learning and occasional themed input.
All courses run online via Zoom and bring together participants from across the world — a distinctive and consistently valued feature of the programme, with people learning from different contexts and cultures as they journey together. They are also available completely for free with the School for Synodality.
